Deer Creek washed out again

SPRING VALLEY, Minn.—This week’s scheduled program was a make-up date for the A&A Electric & Underground Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge that was rained out Memorial Day Weekend.

A deluge of rain hit the track during the running of the Blake Trucking Slingshot program in the afternoon, but the rain did stop and the track crew went to work on the Deer Creek Speedway.

While that was going on, 108 race cars signed in the pits and were ready for action.

The program got started one hour later than normal after track prep was complete and hot laps were ran.

Four heats of Out-Pace USRA B-Mods raced and two heats of Wissota Street Stocks also got in, but just as the USMTS Modifieds took to the track for their heat races, the skies opened up and rain started to fall again.

That was the final blow for the show as the rain did not let up and forced the cancellation of the program for the evening.

Tickets, wristbands and USMTS entry fees will be honored at the Labor Day Duel on Saturday, Sept. 3.

Just a few miles south of here, USRA Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win Sunday at Mason City Motor Speedway.

The Hunt begins Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo.
