Colossal clash Saturday night in Corning



Saturday night, June 10, the Adams County Speedway presents the Malvern Bank Duals featuring the mighty dirt modifieds of the Casey’s USMTS National Tour and the super late models of the Malvern Bank SLMR.

The USMTS drivers will be seeking a $3,000 top prize while SLMR competitors will battle for $2,000 to win. B-Mods, Stock Cars and Compacts will also be in competition with increased purses in all three classes.

Cade Dillard comes into Saturday night’s showdown will all the momentum. The Robeline, La., racer finished second on Tuesday, third on Wednesday and parked it in victory lane on Thursday night. He’s also the defending winner of the event here in Corning, Iowa.

The USMTS has invaded the Adams County Speedway on 11 previous occasions. Jon Tesch was the winner of the inaugural event in 2004 and Kelly Shryock has the most triumphs here with three. Other former winners include Jason Hughes (2004), Tony Fraise (2005), Al Hejna (2005), Zack VanderBeek (2006), Ryan Ruter (2006) and Jason Krohn (2010).

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand open at 5. Hot laps begin at 6:30 and racing gets underway at 7 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $55 for a Family Pass or $25 for adults. Kids in 6th through 12th grade are $15 and children in 5th grade and younger get in for free. Pit passes are $35 for drivers and crew members, kids ages 6-12 years old are $15 and 5 and under are free.

All paid admissions will include a free grandstand ticket to the June 17 Fan Appreciation Night at the track.

An RHRSwag.com Northern Region slate of races kick off this Sunday, June 11, at the Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, followed by another day off on Monday before rolling into the Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D., on Tuesday. The make-up race at the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn., happens Wednesday.

On Thursday, it is time to make tracks to the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., for the “Modified Masters” which will feature the USMTS racing on Thursday night for $3,000 to win then qualifying on Friday night for the $50,000-to-win show on Saturday. If a single driver could pick up all of the wins over this two-week stretch, that would be $74,000 in winnings.
