“Jon Boy” Brown announces plans to race with USMTS in 2011

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- NASCAR Modified driver and television personality from The History Channel’s Madhouse, Jonathan “Jon Boy” Brown has announced that he will participate in select USMTS events in 2011.

Brown, with the help of veteran car owner and driver Chris Loberg, launched Jonathan Brown Racing at the end of 2010.

This new team and partnership is leveraged to take the dirt track by storm!

Brown is an experienced driver who started his career in kart racing as a child then graduated to super late model and asphalt modified racing.

Growing up in the shadows of the historic Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C., Brown gained his experience from the very best drivers in NASCAR.

A chance meeting in 2010 with Loberg led him to race at a dirt track in Wisconsin during the summer, and his impressive run only fueled his passion to be a contender in the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour for the 2011 race season.

“He is an excellent wheel man who has the talent to race at the front of the pack no matter what type of car he fields,” said Loberg. “Jonthan managed to move up from 18th to 8th during his first dirt track race and absolutely looked like a seasoned veteran. Now with his own car and team, I don’t think there is anything to stop him.”

Brown will continue to race in the asphalt modified series full-time at Bowman Gray Stadium, as well as select races for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

In addition, he will field a super late model car and will offer rides in a specially-equipped passenger “ride along” asphalt modified car, with all proceeds given to a local charity at each track.
