Arpin truckin’ back to Deer Creek Speedway

Arpin truckin’ back to Deer Creek Speedway

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- Race fans will get the ultimate bang for their buck when the 32nd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Gopher State 50 invades the high banks of the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., on Wednesday, July 13. They will once again get to see the stars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, while also witnessing the wildly popular USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour powered by Swan Energy.

As an added bonus, race fans will get an up close and personal look at a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series machine. The Turner Motorsports No. 32 Mike’s Hard Lemonade NASCAR Camping World Truck Series ride of Steve Arpin will be on display at the speedway during the event.

Arpin will pilot the Turner Motorsports Mike’s Hard Lemonade Chevrolet Silverado in a multi-race deal and is scheduled to make his NCWTS debut at Texas Motor Speedway in June. Arpin is also excited about getting back to his dirt track racing roots.

“Every time the opportunity to get back to Deer Creek Speedway comes up, it makes me jitter like a little kid walking into a candy store!” stated Arpin. “I love that place. I have been fortunate enough to race all over the country, and by far the nicest facility is right there in our backyard in Rochester.

“Both Mike Sorenson of Action Engineering and Deer Creek Speedway have been so instrumental in my career. Mike put in a lot of effort last year to give me the opportunity to come back and race the Gopher 50, and I can't tell you how exciting it is for us to be able to bring the Mike's Hard Lemonade show truck back home. I think the fans are going to love to get up close to the truck that I am lucky enough to race this year. Right now, I’m not sure if I will be driving that night, but if not, I can't wait to hang out in the stands and enjoy some ice cold mike's hard lemonade with all the fans while enjoying the show.”

A native of Fort Frances, Ontario, Arpin got his start racing go-karts. He went on to become a force on dirt, winning modified features and championships throughout Canada and the United States. He made his ARCA Racing Series debut in 2009, finishing seventh in the championship point standings while earning the Most Popular Driver award. Continuing to race in the ARCA Racing Series in 2010, he recorded three victories (Salem Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, DuQuoin State Fairgrounds), seven top-five and ten top-10 finishes and another Most Popular Driver award. That same year, Arpin made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Talladega Superspeedway, where he qualified fourth and finished 26th. He made six more NNS starts that season, with his best finish of 10th coming at Daytona International Speedway.

The 32nd Annual Gopher 50 will once again be partnered with NAPA Auto Parts and NAPA Auto Care Centers. Doug and Kristi Miner and Miner’s Outdoor & Rec of Blooming Prairie, Minn., big supporters of racing, will again join forces with Napa to make this a very special event.

Fans can purchase advanced tickets for the 32nd Annual NAPA Gopher 50 by contacting the speedway office during regular business hours at 877-DCS-RACE or 507-754-6107 or by logging on to www.deercreekspeedway.com and clicking on ticket information to use the secure ticket director program.
