USMTS will hit I-80 Speedway in full stride

GREENWOOD, Neb. -- The USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour powered by Swan Energy will be in full stride when they arrive at the I-80 Speedway for the Silver Dollar Nationals on Friday and Saturday, July 22-23.

The Silver Dollar Nationals will be an important stop for a couple of reasons.

First of all, it will be the last two races of the Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Great Plains Region which finds nine-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock leading the points over Ryan Gustin by a single point.

Gustin is perhaps the hottest drivers on dirt, and is the 2011 points leader or champion in four of the six USMTS regions.

Add drivers such as Jason Hughes, Rodney Sanders, Jason Grimes, Zack VanderBeek, Jason Krohn, Jon Tesch, Corey Dripps and other USMTS regulars, throw in some local and regional drivers and the modified portion of the SDN should be quite a show in itself.

Secondly, it will be the last USMTS race before the upcoming World Modified Dirt Track Championship presented by Hanson Tire Service to be held July 27-30 at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.

That championship feature on July 30 will pay $20,000 to win and a minimum $1,500 to start with 30 cars taking the green flag three-wide.

More than 150 drivers are already pre-entered for that race, so for drivers gearing up for that race the I-80 Speedway will be a great place to get everything in order.

Shortly after the WMDTC, the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Store National Championship powered by Swan Energy gets underway at the Great American Dirt Track in Jetmore, Kan., on Aug. 11, so look for a strong field of USMTS Modifieds at the Silver Dollar Nationals as they prepare for their stretch run.

To order tickets for the Silver Dollar Nationals, call 402-342-3453. General admission seating for Friday is $25 for adults and $30 on Saturday, Tickets for juniors are $10 both days and kids ages 5 and under get in for free all weekend. All reserved seats are $25 for Friday night and $30 for Saturday.

Racing starts at 7 p.m. each night.

The I-80 Speedway is a high-banked 4/10-mile clay oval located just two blocks north of I-80 at exit 420 (Ashland/Greenwood Exit), halfway between Omaha and Lincoln, Neb. For more information, call 402-659-3301 or check out www.i-80speedway.com.
