HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- A thunderstorm packing lightning and heavy rain crossed over the Humboldt Speedway just after 8 p.m. Friday, forcing track and USMTS officials to pull the plug on the night's event.

With 60 cars in the pits and a jam-packed grandstand in place for Round 2 of the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Championship powered by Swan Energy, the first heat race never made it to the track before the skies opened up and sent fans and race teams scrambling for dry land.

Officials announced that the event will now take place sometime in mid-September, with the exact date to be announced early next week.

The series moves to the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., on Saturday night before wrapping up the four-day stretch at the Monett Speedway in Monett, Mo., on Sunday.
