USMTS license has many ways of paying off in 2012

Is a $300 license worth it to do this deal? You bet!

If a racer was going to run all 29 of these events, just pre-entering the shows would get all but $10 of your license fee back. Realistically, there are a lot of Modifieds in areas that makes it pretty hard to do all this traveling. Still, it only takes YOUR BEST 20 RACES to win the championship!

But even if you don't want to run for the championship, buying a USMTS National Championship Series License is still a good deal if you're good at making A Mains. Based on the purse comparison above, any positions except first or second which pay the same whether you have a license or not, will pay you your $300 back by making just three A Mains -- it can even be done in two A Mains. Any A Main starts after you make those first ones and that license starts making you money.

And we haven't even started talking points fund or the Top Dog Bonus yet! The Top Dog Bonus is awarded to eligible drivers in the USMTS National Championship Series. Eligible drivers shall be guaranteed a minimum of $400 in earnings at each event where that driver is ranked among the top 10 in points. To be eligible, driver must have perfect attendance in the series. The Top Dog Bonus will take effect beginning with the third race in the USMTS National Championship Series.

All 29 events scheduled pay $4,000 to win and $400 to start with a license, and the points pay $30,000 to win and $20,000 for the runner-up.

The first two USMTS National Championship Series points races are Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18, at the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas. The next are at Heart O' Texas Speedway and Cowtown Speedway on March 9-10. Later, tracks like West Plains, Ardmore, Amarillo, Humboldt, Jetmore and Lakeside in Kansas City are on the schedule along with tracks further north. The points end Sept. 7-8 in Ogilvie, Minn. Just 20 of those races plus the points is a combined $110,000 to win but they also will pay down at least 10 spots in points and the start money for the 20 races is a combined $8,000.

To purchase a license and pre-enter events visit www.usmts.com or call 515-832-7944 and you can enter and purchase a license with a card.
