Schrader set for USMTS shootout at Salina Highbanks
SALINA, Okla. -- Officials at the Salina Highbanks Speedway announced today that NASCAR legend Ken Schrader will be entered in to the field for the USMTS Casey's Cup Series event on April 21.
Schrader has been called the consummate race car driver – he can drive anything with wheels, represents his sponsors well and relates to his fans. Throughout his career, he has been successful at every level of racing in which he has competed, including 27 years as a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver.
Schrader’s success as a race car driver carries over into other areas of his life. As a race team owner, Schrader has fielded cars in NASCAR, ARCA and several dirt series. As a TV commentator, he has worked with SPEED and ESPN, offering his own perspective as a driver/owner.
Dirt racing is one of Schrader’s passions and he competes whenever and wherever possible. During any given season, Schrader will be racing his Federated Auto Parts-sponsored Modified in as many as 29 states and over 60 events.
As a businessman and co-owner of three dirt tracks – I-55 Speedway in Pevely, Mo.; Macon (Ill.) Speedway; and Paducah (Ky.) International Raceway – Schrader lends his expertise and insight to the tracks, while working with his partners to maintain the uniqueness of each.
“I want to spend my time racing,” Schrader said. “It’s not only my job, but it’s also my hobby, I love the time I get to spend behind the wheel, and as long as I can, I’m going to race whenever I can.”
If that wasn't enough, fellow NASCAR personality Kenny Wallace is also scheduled to take part in the event. Both drivers have several USMTS events under their belts, competing in more than 70 shows over the past six seasons.
Support classes for the April 21 event will be Pure Stocks, Factory Stocks, Grand Nationals and 360 Modifieds. Gates open at 5:00 with the first green flag waving at 7:00.
The Salina Highbanks Speedway has over 5,000 brand new general admission seats, 100 balcony bar seats and 200 VIP seats that are located in the five-star Finish Line Restaurant. There are still a couple of VIP suites also available for the 2012 season.
The track is a high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval located 7 miles east of Pryor on SR 20. For reservations and ticket information, visit the website at www.salinahighbanksspeedway.com or call 918-434-7223.
