Star Spangled Shootout set for July 6 at Chateau Raceway

LANSING, Minn. -- The stage set for a star-spangled, star-studded, fireworks-blasting night of racing at Chateau Raceway to celebrate the Fourth of July as Dahle Enterprises of Morristown, Miner’s Outdoor & Rec of Blooming Prairie, A&A Electric and Underground of Kasson and Tiny’s Body Shop of Austin present the 15th Annual Mike Guttormson Memorial Race.

This event was rained out on May 25 and rescheduled for Friday, July 6.

The “Baddest Modifieds on the Planet” will invade the Chateau Raceway as the United States Modified Touring Series will highlight the event.

Drivers entering the USMTS portion of the show will receive some help from Powder Werks of Lake Crystal and Greg Jensen Auctioneering in Albert Lea. Because of the help from these two businesses, the entry fee for USMTS drivers will be free for the first 40 entrants – a $110 savings.

Drivers that wish to take advantage of this offer need to contact the USMTS office at 515-832-7944 or email customerservice@usmts.com to enter.

This free car entry will be limited to the first 40 drivers that contact the USMTS prior to the event.

Past USMTS winners at the Chateau Raceway include 2012 USMTS National Champion Jason Hughes, 2008 USMTS National Champion Tim Donlinger, 2007 USMTS National Champion Jason Krohn, Tommy Myer, Jon Tesch, nine-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock, defending USMTS National Champion Ryan Gustin and Mike Chasteen.

Defending track champ Jason Cummins along with current track points leader Brandon Davis, Todd Scharkey, A.J. Wiste, Doug Hillson, Todd Scharkey and Jacob Dahle will try to defend their home turf against the touring pros.

This race honors the memory of modified great Mike Guttormson who passed away on May 30, 1997, shortly after winning the feature race at Chateau. Todd Scharkey holds five Guttormson Memorial wins and Jimmy Davis holds two titles. Other winners include Jason Sleigh, Neil Eckhart, Brad Waits, Mike Sorensen, Jason Krohn, Jason Cummins and defending champion Ryan Gustin.

The fireworks will not only be on the track but in the sky as well. The speedway already boasts one of the area's top fireworks shows that draws a big crowd, but Dahle Enterprises has added to that this year for even more aerial beauty above the speedway.

And if that wasn't enough ... from the time the gates open until hot laps begin, FarmBoy BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and beer are just $1 each.

Pit gates open at 5:00 and the grandstand opens at 5:30 with hot laps at 7:00 and racing to follow. Also racing on that night will be the Wissota Midwest Mods for $300 to win, Wissota Street Stocks for $200 to win and Pure Stocks racing for $100 to win.

The Chateau Raceway is located 5.0 miles north of Austin on US 218 to the Lansing exit, then 1.3 miles east on CR 2, then 0.4 mile south on CR 25, then 0.3 mile east. For more info, call 507-391-2486 or 507-433-4578 on race day or visit www.chateauraceway.net.
