2013 Silver Dollar Nationals will be biggest yet
GREENWOOD, Neb. -- The best of the best will be returning to I-80 Speedway for the 3rd Annual Silver Dollar Nationals, July 18-20, 2013. Once again the late model division will be co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Lucas Oil Midwest Latemodel Racing Association (MLRA) while the open-wheel modifieds will be sanctioned by the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) for the third straight year.
Last year, Muscatine, Iowa’s Brian Birkhofer held off Scott Bloomquist to take home a check for $26,000. This year the Silver Dollar Nationals will be part of the nine-race Crown Jewel Cup of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
The USMTS will again run complete Central Region points shows on Friday and Saturday night. Friday’s show will pay $3,000 to win and Saturday night the winner gets $2,000. In 2012, Ryan Gustin repeated as the the USMTS national champion but it was Terry Phillips taking home the checkers at I-80 Speedway.
Qualifying for the late models will once again feature the popular double-qualifying heat races for each participant (no time trials). Saturday's 80-lap feature will pay $27,000 to win and $1,300 to start. In addition, there is the Belt Bash non-qualifiers race which could pay as much as $2,700 to win. Many of the nation’s best late model drivers will be on hand for SDNIII.
The raised grandstand (with individual backed seats) will be reserved and go on sale Dec. 17. All seats in the raised grandstand will be $28 on Friday and $32 on Saturday. The bleacher seats on both sides of the raised grandstand will be general admission. Bleacher seats will be $28 for adults on Friday and $32 on Saturday. Juniors (6-12) get in for $10 and children 5 and under are admitted free each ay.
