USMTS announces new bonus program for “big dogs”

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa -- If winning is your objective every time you pull into a racetrack, then you just might find the new USMTS “Big Dog Buy-In” program to your liking.

USMTS officials announced a new bonus program today for the 2013 campaign that will give competitors the opportunity to take home an extra $2,000 at every USMTS points race.

USMTS Casey’s Cup Series events pay a minimum $2,000 to win while all races during the season-ending Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup are worth no less than $3,000 to the winner. But for drivers who know ‘tonight is my night’ and want to take a gamble, they can pay an additional $100 on top of their entry fee and be eligible for an additional $2,000 to win.

“We’ve talked to dozens of drivers about this program and every one of them likes the idea,” said USMTS president Todd Staley. “This will certainly add another layer of excitement at each of our shows and inspire drivers to race even harder for first place – if that’s possible.”

The payout doesn’t change for second-place on back, but drivers who participate will be racing for $4,000 to win an advertised $2,000-to-win show and $5,000 for an event that normally pays $3,000 to win.

The bonus will be in effect whether just one driver takes part or every driver in the field joins the party.

The fine print: (1) Driver must elect to participate in the “Big Dog Buy-In” at the time of registration at the track. You cannot pre-pay and you cannot pay later once you have signed in and drawn your number; (2) The cost to participate is $100 cash and the winning driver (if participating in the program) will be paid $2,000 cash in victory lane; (3) If the winning driver did not participate in the program, the money does not accumulate or transfer to the next event; (4) No refunds will be given whatsoever unless the event is rained out or canceled.

The 15th season for the USMTS begins at the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas, for the 4th Annual USMTS Texas Spring Nationals powered by Lecolift. A practice session is slated for Wednesday night, followed by three days of racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-23.

Thursday’s show will pay $2,000 to win while Friday night’s winner gets $3,000 and Saturday’s winner earns $4,000. However, for drivers participating in the “Big Dog Buy-In” the winner’s share will be $4,000, $5,000 and $6,000 to win, respectively – a possible $6,000 more in earnings for a $300 investment.

All three nights will kick off the 2013 season and award points in the Allgayer Inc. Southern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.
