THURSDAY-FRIDAY PROCEDURES: Each driver will race in two heat races on Thursday and two heat races on Friday. Drivers will draw for their initial heat race starting position on Thursday, and will be inverted for the second, third and fourth heat races with varied starting spots and competitors in each. Each heat race will feature 10 or more starters and will be 10 laps, giving drivers the chance to advance as much as possible The USMTS passing points system will be used for all heat races and combined over the two days to determine line-ups for Saturday’s events.
PASSING POINTS: Points awarded based on heat race finish: 1st 59, 2nd 55, 3rd 51, 4th 47, 5th 43, 6th 39, 7th 35, 8th 31, 9th 27, 10th 23, etc. Each driver is also awarded 1.5 points for each car passed based on actual starting position versus official finishing position. For instance, if a driver starts fourth and wins the heat race, that driver will earn 63.5 points.
SATURDAY PROCEDURES: All drivers who competed Thursday and/or Friday will be locked into one of the races on Saturday, heads-up by passing points. The top-12 in passing points for the first two days will make up the first six rows of Saturday’s “A” Main (100 laps, no fuel stop), 13th-24th will comprise the first six rows of the “B” Main (20 laps, 12 transfer), 25th-36th will comprise the first six rows of the “C” Main (20 laps, 12 transfer), 37th-72nd will comprise the first nine rows of two “Last Chance” Mains (20 laps, 6 transfer) and all other drivers will make up two “Next-to-Last Chance” Mains (20 laps, 6 transfer).
SPECIAL RACES & SUPPORT CLASSES: There will be an open practice for all drivers on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. This will be the only night for hot laps for the USMTS Modifieds. dmission to the grandstands for the test-n-tune session is free. Pit passes are $20 ... The Iron Man Challenge for USRA B-Mods will have a complete program of heat races and features all three nights, racing for $500 to win Thursday, $2,000 to win Friday and $1,000 to win Saturday ... On Thursday, the top 12 in USMTS passing points from 12 different states will have the opportunity to compete in a "Race of States" ... Friday night will feature the "USRA Race of Champions" which is open to all 2012 USRA Modified track champions and past USRA Modified national champions.
SATURDAY PAYOFF: “A” Main: 1. $10,000, 2. $6,000, 3. $4,000, 4. $2,700, 5. $2,200, 6. $1,800, 7. $1,500, 8. $1,400, 9. $1,300, 10. $1,200, 11. $1,150, 12. $1,125, 13. $1,100, 14. $1,075, 15. $1,050, 16. $1,025, 17-24. $1,000; “B” Main: 1-12 transfer, 13-24. $700; “C” Main: 1-12 transfer, 13-24. $500; “Last Chance” Mains: 1-6 transfer, 7-24. $350; “Next-to-Last Chance” Mains: 1-6 transfer, others $200.
ENTRY FEES: The entry fee is $250 if received by the end of practice (approx. 9 p.m.) on Wednesday. The entry fee is $300 at the track on race day. An entry form can be downloaded at www.usmts.com/downloads or call 515-832-7944.
EVENT TICKETS: Three-day reserved seat tickets are $50 for adults, $30 for youth ages 13-16 and $15 for kids ages 6-12. Call 515-832-7944 to order your reserved seat tickets today. Single-day tickets for grown-ups are $20 on Thursday and Friday, $25 on Saturday. Youth get in for $10 each day and kids are just $5. Children ages 5 & under get in free every day. Pit passes are $35 on Thursday, $35 on Friday and $40 on Saturday. The event will also be braodcast live via Pay Per View, and fans can register to watch the entire weekend at www.xsan.tv/members/register.
STARTING TIMES: On Thursday and Friday, pit gates will open at 2 p.m., grandstands open at 5, the drivers meeting is at 6:15, hot laps for USRA B-Mods is at 6:45 and the first heat race gets the green flag at 7 p.m. All times are one hour earlier on Saturday.
CAMPING, ATV & GOLF CARTS: There will be a limited amount of campsites available in the pit area for the teams and crews, but there will be a charge for campers not hooked to a trailer with a competing car and they must be in the designated camping area. Campsites are on a first-come first-served basis. Once the designated area is full, the remaining campers will be sent to the campground.
