Ken Schrader to race at Silver Dollar Nationals

GREENWOOD, Neb. -- He's been part of the racing scene for 40 years and he just keeps going and going.

NASCAR star Ken Schrader will race just about anything anytime, and July 19-20 it will be his USMTS Modified at the 3rd Annual Silver Dollar Nationals.

A native of Fenton, Mo., Schrader has nearly 1,000 starts in NASCAR events, including 750 in the Sprint Cup Series, 116 in the Nationwide Series and 99 in the Camping World Truck Series.

Schrader, 57, is known to show up in a dirt Modified or Late Model and race with the best on dirt.

At the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., it will be in a USMTS Modified, racing against the stars of the United States Modified Touring Series for the 33rd and 34th times in his career.

Schrader scored his first and only win at the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., on July 28, 2010.

“What the World of Outlaws are to Sprint Car racing, these guys are to Modifieds,” he said. “I love the series and these drivers are as good as it gets.”

Throughout his career, the two-time USAC champion and 1985 NASCAR Winston Cup Series Rookie of the Year has been successful at every level of racing in which he has competed, including 28 years as a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver.

Sharing the spotlight with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, the USMTS Modifieds will run two complete shows on Friday and Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Nationals.

Friday’s show will pay $3,000 to win and Saturday night the winner gets $2,000 with the champion of the USMTS Arbor Masters Central Region presented by Day Motor Sports being crowned.
