
USMTS returns to I-80 for Aug. 11 ‘Hunt’ race
GREENWOOD, Neb. -- After thrilling ran fans with two outstanding shows at the Silver Dollar Nationals, July 19-20, the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) will return on Sunday, Aug. 11, for a race that will be part of the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup.
‘The Hunt’ starts Aug. 2 at the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Ark., and ends with the crowning of the 2013 USMTS national champion on Sept. 19 at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., during the 15th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree.
Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, won both USMTS features, putting on a whale of a battle with Jason Hughes on Friday night and then charging from his 15th starting position to win again on Saturday night.
Also racing on Aug. 11 will be B-Mods for $500 to win, Hobby Stocks for $400 to win and Hornets for $200 to win. All three classes will be unsanctioned.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and grandstands at 4:30 with racing at 5:55. Grandstand admission is $17 for adults, $5 for juniors (6-12) with children 5 and under free. Pit passes will be $35.
