USMTS ace Mike Hejna dominates Britt feature
BRITT, Iowa (April 29, 2005) -- Mike Hejna was the class of the USRA Modified field during Rookies Rockin’ Sports Bar season opening racing action at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway.
Opening night action for the USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series also racing in the USRA Stock Cars, USRA Hobby Stocks, USRA B-Mods and Hornets.
Hejna, a regular top-competitor with the O'Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series, quickly pushed his machine out into the lead in the 20-lap main event, keeping Jeremy Mills and fellow O'Reilly USMTS star Zack Vanderbeek at bay early in the event.
A few cautions early in the race kept the field close and on each restart, Vanderbeek would use the high line to keep second over Mills.
Vanderbeek was unable to get within more than a car length of Hejna through the rest of the show.
Vanderbeek came home in second, ahead of another pair of O'Reilly USMTS regulars, Brad Baaken and Dean Mahlstedt.
Denny Anderson rounded out the top five finishers.
