Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup halted at Humboldt, heads for Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday

HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- An already-rain-soaked Humboldt Speedway got even more late Thursday night, forcing event organizers to cancel Friday night’s United States Modified Touring Series event at the quarter-mile clay oval.

On Saturday night the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup will storm into the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway for the 5th Annual Lucas Slick Mist Shoot-Out.

The Lucas Oil Speedway is considered by many to be the top dirt track in America. Located about an hour north of Springfield or an hour and a half east of Kansas City, the ‘Diamond of Dirt Tracks’ features 21 luxury suites, a giant high-definition jumbo screen, Musco Sports lighting, Bose stadium sound system, a kart  track for all ages and the cleanest pits in dirt track racing.

Terry Phillips is the defending event champion. Ryan Gustin won here in 2011 and Jason Krohn was the winner in 2009. The 2006 event covered three days over the Fourth of July Weekend with Kelly Shryock taking two of the features and Jeremy Payne winning the other.

Factory Stocks and B-Mods will also be in action, along with the inaugural Battle of the Badges which will feature Missouri's finest law enforcement officers racing to raise money for charity and for the title of “top cop.”

Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps begin at 7 and racing starts at 7:30. Adult tickets are $20, seniors age 62 and older are $15, youth ages 6-15 are $5 and kids ages 5 and under are free. A family pass is also available for $40 and includes entry for two adults and three youth, a free go kart pass, two $2-off coupons for a $5 kids meal, 10% off any gift shop purchase and a half-off coupon for a funnel cake. Pit passes are $30.

Coupons worth $2 off adult admission for Saturday's event will be available Saturday at the Casey's General Store in Wheatland, located just two blocks from the track entrance. Lucas Schott and his AMP Energy-sponsored modified will be at Casey’s from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to meet ‘n’ greet fans.

The Lucas Oil Speedway is a 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.2 mile south of US 54 on SR 83, then east. Visit www.lucasoilspeedway.com for more information or call the track hotline at 417-282-5984.

The four-day swing will wrap up on Sunday, Aug. 11, at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb.
