SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- Recently, some fans operating the Modified Madness page on Facebook had an idea and launched a fan-supported fund to help dirt modified competitors from the outer reaches of the racing universe get to the Featherlite Fall Jamboree at the Deer Creek Speedway.

Jay Carroll and his wife, Brittney, and supported by Ryan Wozniak and Ryan Quam, began the funding project by kicking around the idea to help a few teams defray the costs associated with travel and racing—teams that may otherwise have not made the trip to the Mecca of Modified Racing in Spring Valley, Minn.

“The process started in July with fans of the Modified Madness page nominating their picks for who they would like to see run the Jamboree,” said Jay Carroll. “All of the money raised is by fans and sponsors to help support race teams to travel to compete with the best.”

Once driver picks were selected, photos of the drivers were placed into a Fan Fund album and participants had two weeks to garner enough votes through both likes and fan/sponsor donations to result in a group known as the ‘Final Five.'

These five finalists will receive general fan fund support through the purchase of Modified Madness stickers, sponsors and fan donations.

The Final Five driver list includes Tracy Denby Jr. of Vidor, Texas; Matt Dotson of Clark, Mo.; Kerry Davis of Parkville, Mo.; Scott Stiffler of Farmdale, Ohio; and Michael Easley of Keithville, La.

Voting and donating runs through this Wednesday, Sept. 11, with awards and bonuses going to the finishing order of the Final Five. General sponsorships are still actively being sought.

Thousands of race fans and more than 100 of the nation's elite open-wheel dirt modified drivers will make their annual pilgrimage to the Deer Creek Speedway next Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 19-21, for the 15th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree—the undisputed marquee event for America's most talented modified drivers on dirt.

With nearly $200,000 in posted awards for the late-summer spectacular, the blockbuster battle will see another stellar payoff for competitors with up to a whopping $15,000 to win over the course of three nights for the USMTS Modifieds plus USRA B-Mods each night. Fans will witness a complete show featuring more than 300 laps of action each night.
