KEARNEY, Mo. -- Seven months after taking the first green flag of the season, Trevor Hunt competed at the 15th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree this past weekend where he officially wrapped up the 2013 USMTS Rookie of the Year title.

What began Feb. 22 at the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas, ended Friday night, Sept. 20, at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., with the last points race of the season and final event in the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup.

Although he clinched the points battle nearly one month earlier, Hunt made the USMTS Rookie of the Year Award officially his last weekend driving the #99h Trevor Hunt Racing//Eibach Springs/iXL Hydration GRT Chassis powered by Geddes Racing Engines.

In addition to a $2,000 cash award, Hunt’s Rookie of the Year Award also comes with a complete ED Series Dirt Series fuel cell from Fuel Safe plus valuable contingency awards from Beyea Custom Headers, Champ Pans, Dominator Race Products, FK Rod Ends, Genesis Racing Shocks, Keyser Manufacturing and more

At 14 years of age—he won’t be 15 until January of next year—Hunt becomes the youngest to win the coveted award in the 15-year history of the United States Modified Touring Series.

After taking the lead in the rookie standings on Feb. 23, he led the points battle at the conclusion of 52 of the 55 events on the 2013 campaign.

The team will now head to the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the inaugural Sunflower Showdown presented by Kenny’s Tile, Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 2-5. The event will feature co-sanctioned USRA/USMTS Modifieds all four days with a $10,000 payout to the winner on Saturday.
