JIM FALLS, Wis.—The second visit to the Eagle Valley Speedway for the United States Modified Touring Series will have to wait until 2015 as Sunday's event at the Jim Falls, Wis., speedplant has been canceled due to wet weather.

With the unfortunate news for race fans comes good news for Zack VanderBeek who becomes the 2014 champion of the Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Northern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.

Except for Friday's race at the Cedar Lake Speedway where ‘The Z-Man' dropped out midway through the feature with a broken radiator, the driver from New Sharon, Iowa, was flawless during the previous nine events in the Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Northern Region, including picking up two wins.

In the final standings, VanderBeek edged Stormy Scott by 59 points.

Even without the rain-out, Scott's only hope Sunday was to win the main event and have Vanderbeek not show up.

With a maximum of 103 points available if a driver can lead the most laps in the feature, VanderBeek's 45 show-up points would have put the title out of reach by a single point regardless of the outcome of the race.

With his second-place finish on Friday night, Kelly Shryock wound up in a tie with Scott for second place in the regional standings. Johnny Scott finished fourth, Joey Jensen took fifth and the rest of the top 10 spots went to Dereck Ramirez, Daniel Hilsabeck, Clayton Wagamon, Bryan Rowland and Austin Arneson.

All of the drivers finishing in the top 15 or better are automatically qualified for the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's National Championship powered by Swan Energy, as well as any other drivers with perfect attendance in the region.
