SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Raceway officials announced today that Liquid Nitro Energy Drinks has signed to be the title sponsor of the Saturday, Aug. 2, Hunt for the USMTs Casey's National Championship event at the quarter-mile high-banked oval.

After a four-year hiatus, the nation's premier modified series makes its return to Springfield Raceway. The 2009 event was highlighted with a battle between local racing icon Terry Phillips and his then teammate, Jeremy Payne, with Payne taking the win over Phillips and the rest of the touring modified hot shoes.

Weekly Springfield USRA Modified racers like four-time track champion Jackie Dalton of Carthage, Jody Tillman of Branson West, Brian Green of Pierce City, and Bobby Pearish of Oronogo will be a few of the locals that will strap in and go up against the traveling big guns.

Toss in dirt late model standouts and Springfield residents like Phillips and Payne, and you have one of the season's most sought after race ticket in the region.

Support classes include USRA B-Mods, MW Mods and Legends Cars.

Tickets for the USMTS event are $20 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and children 5 and under are free.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and grandstand gates open at 5:30 with hot laps starting at 6:50 and the first heat race hitting the track at 7:30 p.m.
