Final five set in Modified Madness Fan Fund, headed to Featherlite Fall Jamboree
SPRING VALLEY, Minn.—Coming off their highly successful first year, Modified Madness is back at it again.
The final round of voting is currently underway to determine the final five finishing order to receive assistance to attend the 16th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree, Sept. 18-20, at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.
The mission of the Modified Madness Fan Fund is to enable several drivers with a longer haul or potential need for a financial boost, to compete at the Featherlite Fall Jamboree. The 2013 Modified Madness Fan Fund collected close to $10,000 in sponsorship certificates, fan donation votes and other general fund monies.
Last year’s top vote and donation recipient was Kerry Davis of Platte City, Mo. Other participants included 2013 USRA national champion Matt Dotson, Ohio’s Scott Stiffler and Texan Tracy Denby Jr. Darron Fuqua of Mayetta, Kan., was also a part of the earlier voting process but didn’t make the final five. Nonetheless, he attended the event and received the funds from his fan donation votes.
The final round of voting ends next Wednesday, Sept. 10, and will determine the finishing order for the final five participants. This year’s final five drivers are Davis; Tyler VandeKamp of Knoxville, Iowa; Jon Sheets of Nevada, Mo.; current USRA national points leader Terry Schultz of Sedalia, Mo.; and Steven Bowers Jr. of Topeka, Kan.
Each participant in the final five will receive general funding, sponsorship certificates, monies from T-shirt sales and donations from fan votes. More information on these processes can be found at www.ModMadnessFanFund.org or by contacting the Modified Madness Fan Fund page on Facebook at .
Here’s how the voting process works:
• Fans of the Modified Madness Fan Fund on Facebook can register one vote per driver by going to the Official Fan Fund Voting Album and cast their vote for a particular driver by commenting their support on that driver’s photo.
• This is limited to one vote per driver for each Facebook account. However, unlimited votes may also be registered through cash donations via www.ModMadnessFanFund.org by clicking on one of the donation buttons and specifying which driver is being voted for in the Notes section. This process uses credit card via PayPal or transfer from a current PayPal account. Checks are also an option. Contact the page directly for more information on this form of payment.
• One dollar from each donation is worth three (3) votes for your driver of choice. For instance, a $10 donation for your driver is worth 30 votes for that driver.
More information on the donation and voting processes can be found under the ‘How It Works’ tab at www.ModMadnessFanFund.org.
Modified Madness decals are also available. The stickers are $3 a piece or four can be had for $10. Coozies and a limited run of T-shirts are also available by contacting the page. All profits go to the Modified Madness Fan Fund general fund for the final five vote recipients.

America’s undisputed marquee mega-event for modifieds—the 16th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree—is set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-20, and this year’s battle between the Best of the Best in the sport promises to be the biggest ever with the boldest payoffs in event history.
USMTS Modifieds will be shooting for a $5,000 each of the first two nights and a whopping $10,000 winner’s share on Saturday. Meanwhile, USRA B-Mods will be racing for $600, $750 and $1,000 to win, respectively, with more than 200 cars and drivers are expected in two classes and nearly $200,000 in posted awards possible.
Early bird race fans can get a free preview of the action and drivers will get their chance to make final adjustments to their machines with an open practice from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
On Thursday and Friday, the pit gate opens at 3 p.m., spectator gates open at 4 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 6:30 p.m. General admission adult grandstand tickets are $25 each night and kids ages 12 and younger are just $10.
Thursday night’s program will wind down with karaoke under the hospitality tent following the races. The annual Fall Jamboree Golf Scramble takes place at the Root River County Club in Spring Valley with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning. Fans, drivers, crews and their families will put a lid on Friday’s festivities with the return of The Dweebs performing live on stage following the races.
On Saturday, the annual Fall Jamboree Bean Bag Tournament begins at 12 noon near the campground. The pit gate opens at 2 p.m., spectator gates open at 4 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 6 p.m. General admission adult grandstand tickets are $30 and kids ages 12 and younger are just $10.
Thirty cars will take the green flag to start the main event in both classes on all three nights.
As if that wasn’t enough, Modified drivers who don’t make their way into Saturday’s championship finale will have a chance at one of 30 spots in the Non-Qualifiers Race which carries a $2,000 top prize and pays $400 to start ... more than most modified races pay to win their main event.
As always, a delicious hot breakfast will be served each morning by the Bear Creek Lutheran Church in the hospitality area from 8-11 a.m.
