Shryock stays perfect in O’Reilly USMTS titles, wins Pro-Line Buildings Swing #2

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa -- When it comes to winning titles with the O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series, Kelly Shryock has not been very willing to share with his fellow competitors. In fact, he owns them all, including the latest "series within a series" championship -- Pro-Line Buildings Swing #2.

On Tuesday, June 21, the O’Reilly USMTS teams will kick off the first of ten races for Pro-Environmental Swing #3. While drivers will continue to hunt the rigorous season-long O’Reilly USMTS National Championship, all competitors will start the points chase for the third block of 10 races on a level playing field with no points. The champion of Pro-Environmental Abatement Swing #3 will earn $1,000, with additional money also on the line for the rest of the top-10 points earners in the third swing -- all in addition to the year-end national points fund.

"The O’Reilly USMTS is the most demanding tour in America for Modified teams," said Series president Todd Staley. "By breaking the season into four 10-race swings and the season-ending AFCO Challenge series, the local and regional racers can take their shot at a points championship without having to travel the entire tour all season long. By taking in just one or two swings, a driver can race against the best of the best in Modified racing for more prize money and a larger points fund than you'll find at almost any weekly Modified track for an entire season's worth of work."

For the competitors, it's also more chances to knock Shryock from his throne -- a seat he has never relinquished since the inception of the O’Reilly USMTS. The second-generation ace from Fertile, Iowa, is the defending O’Reilly USMTS National Champion, and has captured the title in all six seasons of the Series' existence. Shryock also captured the first two swings of the 2005 season, and is on track to make history by capturing his seventh straight O’Reilly USMTS National Championship.

The other 70+ nationally-licensed drivers will be looking to make history themselves by becoming the only person to hold a O’Reilly USMTS title for which the trophy is not collecting dust in Shryock's ever-fattening trophy room.

The first four races of Pro-Environmental Abatement Swing #3 will occur this week in the State of Wisconsin with races on Tuesday at the Langlade County Speedway in Antigo, followed by stops at Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay on Wednesday, the Luxemburg Speedway on Thursday and Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia on Friday.

Each of the four events carries a top prize of $2,000!

A big field of cars is expected for this event, including O’Reilly National Drivers Kelly Shryock, Mike Sorensen, Brad McEwan, Jason Hughes, Corey Dripps, Jon Tesch, Tommy Myer, Al Hejna, Zack VanderBeek, Ryan Ruter, Mark Noble, Roger Hadan, Julie McDermid, Gary Clark, Mike Wedelstadt, Jason Krohn, Bruce Hanford, Scott Drake, Greg Metz, Mike Hejna, Dean Mahlstedt, Brad Bakken, Alan Mondus, Brandon Morton, Dustin Boney, Jeremy Payne, Jake Neal, Gary March, Lynn Nillson, Bub Lerette, Willy Kraft, Steve Wetzstein, Jesse Frericks, Justin Cooper, Jordy Nelson, Tommy Weder Jr., Jeff James, Matt Gilbertson, Dan Fetters, Matt McDermid, Mike Chasteen, Johnny Bone Jr., Bob Timm, Ray Guss Jr., Tim Vogt, Danny Concelman, Brian Mullen, Mike Bennett, Steve Holzkamper, Scott Mullen, David Murray, Dan Daniels, Nate Wasmund, Danny McKeighan, Sean Jerovetz, Ryan Meyer, Jay Poidinger, Jeff Schluetter, Steve Stewart, John Vandenberg, Joe McBirnie, Neil Eckhart, Mark Dotson, Brad Waits, Mark Burgtorf, Darin Duffy, Tony Fraise, Brent Bohmont and Kevin Stoa.
