Stock Cars on display Friday at Algona Fairway Barbecue
ALGONA, Iowa -- The big race on Friday will be at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway for the fourth night of the five-race Stock Car Shootout.
During the day, however, the party will be in Algona, Iowa -- just 20 minutes away from the 3/8-mile clay oval in Britt, Iowa.
Race fans are invited to attend the Annual Pork Barbecue on Friday, where they can not only feast on mouth-watering pork sandwiches from the outdoor grill at the Fairway Store in Algona, but they can get an early fix for their racing bug, too.
Several drivers will be on hand to display their USRA Stock Cars and sign autographs for fans. Also, the O'Reilly USMTS souvenir trailer will be on hand with some special offers -- and plenty of replacement T-shirts for folks who plop some barbecue sauce on the front of their shirt.
For race fans looking to get a feel for what it's like inside the cockpit, six-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Frank Kimmel will have his No. 46 Advance Auto Parts/Pork Ford Taurus simulator on display, giving race fans the opportunity to sit inside the simulator and get a feel of what it's like to steer the stock car around a superspeedway.
Later on in the evening, Kimmel's simulator car will also be entertaining fans at the racetrack.
The Annual Pork Barbecue is presented by Fairway Stores, Inc., and the Kossuth County Pork Producers. The
Algona Fairway store is located on the northeast side of town on Hwy. 18 East. If you can't find it, just roll down the car window and follow your nose!
KIMT-TV of Mason City will be on location to film the festivities for broadcast on evening news.
The Annual Pork Barbecue is held at 86 Fairway stores across the midwest, and more than 2,000 delicious pork patties will be served up at each location.
Friday night at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway, the best full-fendered aces in the Midwest will be on hand for a $1,200-to-win main event for the USRA Stock Cars. The feature also pays $100 to start, and the Hobby Stock feature will pay $300 to win.
Adults tickets are just $10, with kids (ages 6-12) $3 and children under 6 admitted FREE. Race time is 7:30 sharp.
