Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway gearing up for 11th Annual Harris Auto Racing “Night of 1,000 Stars”
WEBSTER CITY, Iowa -- The “Night of 1,000 Stars” has been a mid-summer tradition at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway since 1994. In 2005, this mega-event will continue with new promoters Todd and Janet Staley.
The only thing that has changed is the date -- the 11th Annual Harris Auto Racing “Night of 1,000 Stars” will take place on Thursday and Friday, July 14-15, at the Britt, Iowa, speedplant.
“In the past, this race has been held in August,” said track promoter Todd Staley. “But with the $10,000-to-win Great American Stock Car Challenge being held this August in Britt, it was best to move this event into July. This race will be even bigger than the previous 10 years as several sponsors have come on board to provide some great items for both competitors and fans at this year's two-day event.”
The actual “night” for the Harris Auto Racing “Night of 1,000 Stars” will be on Thursday, with more exciting racing scheduled for Friday plus increased purses for most classes.
In addition to the Modified main event paying a hefty $1,000 to win on Friday, there will also be a special “King of the Hill” race for the Modifieds. This race will be exciting for the fans as they get to see two drivers battle it out for a green-white-checkered match race with the winner advancing to the next round.
There is a $50 entry fee for the King of the Hill, and the promoter will match each entry for a 100% payout.
On Thursday night, Harris Auto Racing will be the title sponsor of the event, with associate sponsorship from Max Yield. Several other sponsors will be donating products to be given away through drawings and by finishing positions. Fast Company Performance will be giving away a new fire suit (a $1,300 value) to the winner of the Modified main event on Thursday. On Friday night, Fast Company will also be giving away a new helmet and shoes on Friday night. Other sponsors that have come on board include R.A. Benson Motorsports, Schroeder Racing Products, AERO Race Wheels, KEVKO Oil Pans & Components, Wilwood Engineering, JR Motorsports, PTM Race Engines, Hawk Performance, Quarter Master, Performance Bodies and Grawmondbecks.
USRA track rules will apply for the Modified class on Thursday and Friday nights. Also running will be USRA-sanctioned B-Modifieds ($350 to win), Hobby Stocks ($300 to win) and Stock Cars ($500 to win).
The grandstands will open at 5 p.m. with racing set for 7 each night. There is a $50 early entry fee for Modifieds, with a $75 fee for late entry. All other classes will require a $25 pit pass only.
General admission grandstand prices for Thursday are $13 for adults, with kids (ages 6-12) $4 and children under 6 admitted FREE.
On Thursday night after the races, the Backyard Deli from Clear Lake will be giving away 1,000 hamburgers -- free of charge to the race fans!
On Friday night, Club Nickel Night at the Races will once again feature some great racing action with the King of the Hill Race and a $1,000-to-win feature for the Modifieds. Also on the racing card for the USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series will be Hobby Stocks ($250 to win), B-Modifieds ($300 to win) and Stock Cars ($400 to win). The Hornet class will also be in on the menu Friday night.
Races will once again begin at 7 p.m. with gates opening at 5.
Be sure to come early on Friday night and enjoy the Kabrick Distributing Happy Hour that will have $1 Bud products from 6-7 p.m.
Adult grandstand tickets for Friday's show are $10, with kids (ages 6-12) $3 and children under 6 admitted FREE.
