Four races, four top-5’s for Al Hejna


<B>VENTURA, Iowa --</B> Four nights of racing on the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) trail saw four top five finishes for Al Hejna. It was hot on in the pit area, and the racing results for Hejna was hot on the track.

On July 20, 2005, The USMTS traveled to Crawford County Speedway (Denison, IA). Hejna took 3rd in his heat after starting in 7th for the A-Main. That was good enough from the redraw. He started 6th and finished 4th on the big half-mile.

The next night was a trip to Interstate Speedway (Jefferson, SD). Hejna took the win in his heat race and ended up starting the A-Main in 6th. Al ran up front all night and finished 4th.

Friday night saw another great run for the Budweiser, Rookies Rockin’ Sports Bar, Skyrocket Chassis number '7’. Hejna took the lead early in the A-Main at Murray Cotuny Speedway (Slayton, MN). Hejna led through most of the feature until Kelly Shryock got around Hejan with a few laps to go. Al finished in 4th place.

The fourth and final night of the busy week of racing with the USMTS stars landed the team at Upper Iowa Speedway (Decorah, IA). Transport troubles almost stopped the team from make the trip to the quarter-mile track, but thanks to a borrowed trailer from Shryock, Hejna made the trip. When the checkered flag feel the number '7’ was scored in fourth.

"It was definitely hot out there," remembers Hejna. "I couldn’t be happier to have the luck we had. Four wins might have been better, but, it is tough just to run in the Top 5 each night with these guys anymore. The crew worked hard in the heat, and I can’t thank them enough."

"I’m not sure what the plan is for this weekend," Hejna added. "We need to really to look over the cars after four nights of racing in the heat. The transport trouble is another issue. We hope to hit Hancock County Speedway (Britt, IA) Friday night, but we’ll see." The next solid date will be the USMTS race at Soutehrn Iowa Speedway (Oskaloosa, IA) next week.
