Scranton to become contributing writer for RacinDirt.com

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—RacinDirt.com owners Austin Krueger and Trenton Berry are pleased to announce the addition of longtime motorsports journalist Lyndal Scranton for the 2016 season and beyond. Scranton, recently retired from the Springfield (Missouri) News-Leader following a 36 year career with the daily publication.

Scranton has covered the motorsports beat in southwest Missouri since 1984, frequently covering the biggest events in the area and interviewing key figures within the industry. He was also the Missouri State University University beat writer for football, men's basketball and baseball.

“This is certainly a proud day for our company,”commented Berry. “I've known Lyndal for several years and his quality of work is as good as anyone in the country. His professionalism and knowledge of the sport make this a no brainer for us. A person of Lyndal's ability doesn't come around often. I'm so glad he wasn't ready to retire all together!”

A staple of Scranton's motorsports coverage was a Thursday long-form feature story on a relevant driver, track, tour or topic. Those Thursday stories will continue beginning in either February or March and running the duration of the season. There will likely be a few other stories mixed in throughout the year too.

“It was really important for me to be able to carry over those Thursday features Lyndal was known for,” Berry continued. “Many people locally thought the racing coverage was going to be lost once the retirement announcement was made. Austin and I are glad to pick the ball up and along with Lyndal keep those going. There's no doubt the focus will broaden beyond the area and encompass much of what we cover from a live and on-demand video standpoint, but the important thing is the content will be there when our valued premium members seek it out.”

Fans are encouraged to follow Lyndal on Social Media - @LyndalScranton on Twitter and /LyndalScrantonNL on Facebook.
