Hejna grabs win, third in AFCO Challenge
VENTURA, Iowa -- Al Hejna grabbed his 9th win of 2005, and Hejna now sits third in the USMTS AFCO Challenge. Hejna Brothers Racing heads to Southern Iowa for a triple-header racing weekend.
This past weekend, Al Hejna traveled to Missouri for three nights of racing. The first night Al took the Budweiser, Dick Boyer Engine Development, Skyrocket Chassis number "7" to Bolivar Speedway (Bolivar, MO). Al ran 3rd in his heat race which was good enough for a 9th place starting spot. That is where he finished at Bolivar.
Saturday night it was wire-to-wire for the black number "7" at Lebanon I-44 Speedway (Lebanon, MO). Al took the green flag from his second row inside starting spot, passed pole-sitter Tommy Myer, and had the lead down the back stretch. Despite heavy lapped traffic, Al drove off to the win.
The final night in Missouri took the United States Modified Touring Series to Monett Speedway (Monett, MO). Al rolled out for the A-Main in 4th, but the car faded early, and Al had to hang on for a 9th place finsh.
Al Hejna sits 3rd in the USMTS AFCO Challenge points. Three races this weekend could change that as Al looks to move up in the standings. Thursday night race fans will be able to catch both Al and Mike at Corning, IA's Adams County Speedway. On Friday and Saturday Hejna Brothers Racing move over the the fast half-mile at Southern Iowa Speedway (Oskaloosa, IA).
