No luck this weekend for Dripps
WATERLOO, Iowa -- Corey Dripps Racing has returned home after a rough weekend on the United States Modified Touring Series Trail. Between flat tires and crashes, things did not go CDR's ways.
The triple-header weekend began on Thursday night with a trip to Adams County Speedway (Corning, IA). While running his heat race, driver Corey Dripps was caught up in a crash that ended his heat race run. After repairs, the R.A. Benson, Yeager Machine, Big Cock Chassis number "31" rolled back out onto the track for a B-Main. A flat tire would end that bid. A provisional allowed Dripps to tag the end of the A-Main field. Mr. Excitement found the bad luck demon again and had no place to go and yet another crash end the bid for a win.
After working all morning the next day on the chassis, CDR traveled to Southern Iowa Speedway (Oskaloosa, IA). Repairs still needing to be completed, the crew did manage to hit the track in time for the heat race. Unfortunately, a faulty steering box forced the number "31" to the pits before the race started. The crash bug bit the team again in the B-Main. A provisional allowed the team to join the filed, and Corey Dripps made the best of it moving through the field for an eleventh place finish.
The final night off racing was back at Southern Iowa Speedway. A good heat race run allowed CDR to make the A-Main (starting twelfth). Debris on the track cut a tire, and Dripps headed to the pits. On the restart the transmission let go ending the night of racing.
CDR will regroup and reload for the Featherlite Fall Jamboree this coming weekend at Deer Creek Speedway. RaceRPM.com is scheduled to have a live radio web cast of Friday & Saturday's racing action. Log onto www.RaceRPM.com to learn more Monday morning.
