Bloomfield Speedway making more improvements for 2006 and beyond

BLOOMFIELD, Iowa -- The Davis County Fairboard once again has taken on another project to help improve the Bloomfield Speedway racing facility for the upcoming 2006 season.

After making a huge improvement in 2005 with new lighting for the 3/8-mile clay oval speedplant with the latest technology from Musco Lighting, officials are now working to improve the safety fencing around the speedway.

With the addition of heavy wall pipe and fencing, the new fence will be added from turns 1 and 2, and will be extended down the backstretch to the pit gate opening in turn 3. Fencing will also be installed through turns 3 and 4 to complete the project.

The new reinforced fence will help protect the spectators. With the expected large car counts for the 2006 racing season, this will also allow for more pit area parking on the backstretch.

This year looks to be a very exciting season with the signing of RL Promotions to manage the facility, and signing with the United States Racing Association (USRA) to sanction weekly racing at Bloomfield.

The 2006 season will kick off with the first-ever appearance of the O'Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Friday night, March 31. Several special events are scheduled for 2006, along with Fast Track Fridays and the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series action in 2006.
