USMTS drenched in Des Moines, feature finishes July 18
DES MOINES, Iowa—With heat races in the books at the Iowa State Fair Speedway, persistent rain forced event organizers to postpone Tuesday evening’s main event for the USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental.
The race has been rescheduled for Monday, July 18. Stock Cars and Trucks will be added to the show that night, along with the Hobby Stocks.
Another four events remain this week for United States Modified Touring Series competitors in the RealTruck.com Northern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.
Tomorrow (Wednesday, June 15) the series returns to the Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, Minn. While 31 shows have been staged at the 3/8-mile clay oval, this is the first visit in nearly four years.
Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps begin at 6:30 and racing starts at 7 p.m. General admission is $20 for adults, kids ages 6-12 are $5 and children under 6 get in for free.
Race fans can pick up coupons good for $2 off adult admission at Casey’s General Stores locations in Dodge Center, Hayfield, Mantorville and West Concord. To find the location nearest you, visit www.caseys.com.
WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Midwest Mods and WISSOTA Street Stocks will also be on the racing card. TraLo Companies of Owatonna has pledged $1,000 to pad the Midwest Mod purse and Northland Trenching Equipment is adding $500 to the normal Super Stock payout.
The Dodge County Speedway is a 1/3-mile semi-banked clay oval located 1.1 miles north of US 14 on SR 57 (at the Dodge County Fairgrounds). Visit www.racekasson.com for more information.
On Thursday the USMTS road warriors invade the KRA Speedway in Wilmar, Minn., for the second straight season.
A little more than a year ago, Craig Thatcher was standing in Widow Wax Victory Lane in the inaugural event at the semi-banked 3/8-mile yellow clay oval.
Start time is 6:30 p.m. Grandstands are $20 and kids 12 and under are free. Pit passes are $35. Support classes will be WISSOTA Midwest Mods, WISSOTA Street Stocks, Hornets and Hobby Stocks.
On race day, fans can grab discount coupons good for $2 off an adult admission at Casey’s General Stores locations in Atwater, Cosmos and Willmar. To find the location nearest you, visit www.caseys.com.
This event is made possible by support from Marthaler Chevrolet of Glenwood, Kent's Auto Body & Glass of Willmar and Uncommon USA.
The KRA Speedway is located off north of Willmar on US 71, then 0.3 mile west on Ella Ave. NW, then 0.5 mile north on 7th St. NW (at the Kandiyohi County Fairgrounds).
