Mother Nature intervenes, Iowa-Missouri border war delayed

BLOOMFIELD, Iowa -- Race fans in southern Iowa and northern Missouri will have to wait a little while longer to get their first glimpse of the O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series in 2006.

Heavy rainfall throughout Thursday afternoon and evening have soaked the grounds and made the racetracks unmanageable at both the Mountain Dew Bloomfield (Iowa) Speedway and Pepsi Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo., forcing O’Reilly USMTS officials to postpone this weekend's events.

A make-up date for these events will be announced soon.

Up next for the O’Reilly USMTS will be a pair of $2,000-to-win events in the Hawkeye State.

On Friday, April 7, the hottest Modified drivers in America will invade the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa, for the 2nd Annual Ruter Farms Iowa Spring Challenge.

Then, on Saturday, April 8, the rugged road warriors travel to the big and fast half-mile oval of the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, for the 2nd Annual Iowa Spring Classic.

Mark Noble of Blooming Prairie, Minn., leads the O’Reilly USMTS national points standings heading into next weekend's doubleheader.

Other O’Reilly USMTS National drivers expected for both shows include seven-time defending O’Reilly USMTS national champion Kelly Shryock, Jon Tesch, Ryan Ruter, Steve Arpin, Brent Bohmont, Johnny Bone Jr., Dustin Boney, Joe Bradshaw, Dan Chapman, Mike Chasteen, Clayton Christensen, Gary Clark, Justin Cooper, Michael Darnall, Scott Drake, Tony Fraise, Jason Friesen, Matt Gilbertson, Chevy Hadan, Al Hejna, Jim Horejsi, Jason Hughes, Marlin Kracht, Brett LaFollette, Kevin Larkins, Dean Mahlstedt, Jim Mathieson, Julie McDermid, Matt McDermid, Brad McEwan, Greg Metz, Alan Mondus, Brandon Morton, Scott Mullen, Tommy Myer, Jake Neal, Mark Noble, Jay Poidinger, Josh Reisch, Ryan Ruter, Jeff Schluetter, John Schwab, Kelly Shryock, Mike Spaulding, Chuck Stanton, Mike Steensma, Russell Stewart, Jon Tesch, Jeremy Tibben, Randy Timms, Zack VanderBeek, Joshua Vinnedge, Nate Wasmund, Mike Wedelstadt, Brad Waits, Tommy Weder Jr., Ryan York and Randy Zimmerman.
