Dripps teams up with Hoffman Race Cars
WATERLOO, Iowa -- Corey Dripps Racing will team up with Hoffman Race Cars for select races in 2006.
"Jerry Hoffman and I have been friends for years, and after we talked a few times about it, we decided to put something together," Dripps explained. "He builds a quality car, and we're excited about the deal."
Specialty Motorsports of Reinbeck, Iowa, will be an official dealer of the new chassis that will be known as Hoffman Race Cars by Big Cock.
The only major change will be the rear suspension.
"We've been working at the shop on a new rear suspension for our USMTS modified, and we will put that design on the new (economy) car," stated Dripps. "Speaking of which, we might run the (economy) car a few times on the USMTS trail to see how it matches up."
Specialty Motorsports builds the Big Cock Chassis which Dripps pilots on the O'Reilly USMTS trail. They decided at the end of the 2005 racing season that modified racing was heading in two different directions.
"The style of car that really seems to be popular is what we call the "cross-bred" style car," Specialty Motorsports Manager Rick Dripps commented.
The 2006 Big Cock Chassis has seen some major changes. It will still be built around the Ford front stub, but there have been several new improvements. Some of the changes include a new over slung rear design, a wheel base measurement of 110 inches, a new one-piece upper A-arm with custom-made lower A-arms, a new birdcage design, a new pull bar and a fifth arm.
Dripps will make his 2006 O'Reilly USMTS debut this Friday at the Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa.
In 2006, Specialty Motorsports will be offering an economy modified and a USMTS/USRA modified for sale. For more information on these cars you can contact Specialty Motorsports at (319) 345-6009.
