Widow Wax Summersota Modified Nationals blasts off Wednesday

FERGUS FALLS, Minn.—The Best of the Best in the sport of dirt modified racing are about to descend on the I-94 Raceway in Fergus Falls, Minn., for the second mega-event in the Widow Wax USMTS Four-Crown Series presented by MAVTV.

Set for this Wednesday through Saturday, June 22-25, the inaugural Widow Wax Summersota Modified Nationals will showcase the hottest drivers in the country as they race for their chance to take home the $15,000 winner’s paycheck.

Drivers from Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming—as well as several from north of the Canadian border—will converge on the popular 3/8-mile clay oval in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Featuring the stars and cars of the United States Modified Touring Series, the event is the second of four events that will be filmed for broadcast on the MAVTV Motorsports Network later this summer.

WISSOTA Midwest Mods and WISSOTA Street Stocks will also be on the bill.

An open practice for drivers in all divisions is slated for Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Fans get in for free and drivers that purchase a three-day pit pass for $110 also includes free admission to Wednesday’s test ‘n’ tune session.

Each driver will run four heat races from four different starting positions—two on Thursday and two on Friday. Starting positions and drivers will be mixed for each qualifying heat race which will feature 10 to 12 starters each.

Utilizing each competitor’s best three of four heat race efforts, passing points will be combined to determine the line-ups for Saturday’s main event.

The top 12 in combined passing points will fill the first four rows of Saturday’s “A” Main. The next 12 (13th through 24th) will be locked into Saturday’s “B” Main, the next 12 drivers (25th-36th) will be locked into the “C” Main and the remainder will run in Last Chance races on Saturday.

Saturday’s championship finale will start three-wide and go for 52 green flag laps with no less than $1,500 going to each starter.

Great seats are still available for fans, as well as several unique ways to witness the show including general admission seating, tailgating, RV overnight camping, VIP overnight parking and pit passes.

General admission is $25 Thursday, $25 Friday and $30 Saturday.

Race time is 7 p.m. all three days.

Event sponsors include Widow Wax Premium Car Care Products, City of Fergus Falls, Beverage Wholesalers, Viking Coke, Leighten Broadcasting, I-29 Trailer Sales and Polydome.

Out-Pace Racing Products is supporting the WISSOTA Midwest Mods and the WISSOTA Street Stock division is sponsored by The Bowler.
