Monett too wet; Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup heads to Wisconsin Wednesday
MONETT, Mo.—The fourth round of the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental slated for Sunday at the Monett Speedway fell to Mother Nature.
Now a 21-race championship chase, the series now embarks on a five-night, five-track swing through Wisconsin, Minnesota and Northern Iowa this Wednesday-Sunday, Aug. 10-14.
On Wednesday, the Amsoil Speedway in Superior, Wis., hosts the stars and cars of the United States Modified Touring Series, followed by a trip to the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wis., for the third straight year on Thursday, Aug. 11.
Bob Timm’s Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., will welcome the Best of the Best in dirt modified racing on Friday, Aug. 12, and on Saturday, Aug. 13, the tireless touring titans of the USMTS make their second stop of the season at the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn.
Then on Sunday, Aug. 14, the Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, hosts the eighth round of the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup.
All five events will see the main event winner walk away with at least $3,000.
Defending USMTS national champion Jason Hughes leads the points battle after three rounds as he seeks his third title and a sweep of all three regions and The Hunt in 2016.
Each of the title hunters have a legitimate shot to pocket the $25,000 prize that goes with being the undisputed heavyweight champion of the dirt modified world.

The Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental is comprised of 21 events, with the first 20 spanning 32 days at 20 different race track in seven states from Aug. 4 through Sept. 4.
When the checkered flag drops on opening night of the Featherlite Fall Jamboree on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., the USMTS will crown it’s 18th national champion.
