Shryock dominates Rinehart Trucking Texas Shootout at Motorama Speedway

BEAUMONT, Texas -- Kelly Shryock of Fertile, Iowa, led all 40 laps of Friday night's Rinehart Trucking Texas Shootout main event at Motorama Speedway in Beaumont, Texas. Shryock's fourth triumph in five USMTS Southern Series events was worth $2,000 to the eight-time defending O'Reilly USMTS National Champion.

Despite a pair of caution flags that slowed the pace during the Holley "A" Main, nobody could match Shryock as he sped away on each restart, leading runner-up and fellow Iowan Zack VanderBeek to the finish line with a straight-away advantage.

Greg Skaggs of Bixby, Okla., finished third after starting 11th on the grid, while John Whittington of Vidor, Texas, took fourth after starting 18th in the 24-car field. Steve Holzkamper of Gentry, Ark., rounded out the top-5 finishers.

Shryock continues to lead the USMTS Southern Series points standings with a healthy advantage (532 to 401) over Randy Timms of Wheatland, Okla., who finished sixth tonight. VanderBeek sits third in the rankings with 394 points, followed by Holzkamper (389), Skaggs (369), Rodney Sanders (368), Tommy Weder Jr. (360), Jason Hughes (349), David Mitchell (316) and Chase Allen (314).

The Rinehart Trucking Texas Shootout continues on Saturday at the Gator Motorplex in Willis, then winds up the tripleheader weekend at the 105 Speedway in Cleveland on Sunday.

On Saturday, the USMTS Southern Series Modifieds will be racing for another $2,000 to win, with a minimum $200 to start.
