Fergus Falls, Ogilvie, Mason City brace for USMTS invasion Aug. 10-12

The USMTS Hunt for the Casey’s Cup powered by Summit continues the march toward the crowning of the $50,000 USMTS national champion with three big races in Minnesota and Iowa this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-12.

On Friday, the series returns to the I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn., for the 4th Annual Summersota Nationals presented by Vector Windows, Villard Equipment, Snap-On, Ben Wolden Landscaping and Winning Edge Graphics.

Rodney Sanders topped the USMTS debut at the I-94 Speedway in 2015 and Stormy Scott captured the 2016 Summersota title. Jason Hughes was the most recent winner on May 19 last year, and also picked up a win in 2016.

The pits open at 3 p.m. and grandstand gates open at 5:30 with racing at 7. Polydome Limited Late Models, RHRSwag.com Wissota Midwest Modifieds, Pizza Ranch Wissota Street Stocks and Ringdahl Ambulance Short Trackers are also on the card.

General admission tickets are $20 while kids ages 10 and under are admitted free with a paid general admission ticket. Tailgating is $20 with a general admission ticket and RV trailer parking is $30 (east fence line). Pit passes are $30.

Race fans can save $2 off a general admission ticket by picking up a discount coupon at Casey's General Stores locations in Fergus Falls and Hoffman, plus the Wahpeton store just across the North Dakota border. To find the location nearest you, visit www.caseys.com.

The I-94 Speedway is located off of I-94 at exit 54, then 0.9 mile east on SR 210 to North Tower Rd., then 1.3 miles north to stop sign, then 0.6 mile west. For more information, call (218) 998-2191 or check out www.i94speedways.com on the World Wide Web.

On Saturday, the series heads to the the Wagamon family’s Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn., for the 7th Annual Chubbs Performance Modified Madness presented by U.S. Army.

On Sunday, the Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, hosts the 7th Annual Diamond Jo Casino “All-In 77” at the historic North Iowa Fairgrounds clay oval.

This will be the ninth USMTS event held here, and different drivers won each of the first six, beginning with Ryan Ruter’s victory in 2009. Mike Steensma, Kelly Shryock and Jason Hughes all tasted USMTS glory when the track was still known as I-35 Speedway.

Two events were staged in 2016 with Rodney Sanders and Cade Dillard topping those shows. Ryan Gustin won both main events last year after an early-season rain-out in June forced double features for the August show.

Sunday’s blockbuster will feature Holley USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks and Rookies Rockin’ USRA Tuners running for increased prize money as well as track, regional and national points in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series.

The pit gate opens at 4 p.m., grandstands open at 5 and hot laps begin at 6 with racing to follow. Adult general admission tickets are $20. Seniors (65+), members of the military and first responders get in for $17. Juniors ages 11-16 are just $10 and kids 10 and under are free. A pit pass costs $35.

Coupons good for $2 off adult admission are available at Casey's General Store locations in Clear Lake, Forest City, Garner, Lake Mills, Manly, Mason City, Nora Springs, Northwood, Osage, Sheffield and St. Ansgar.

“Big Daddy” Joe Duvall will have his Spike Hardcore Energy No. 91 machine at the Casey’s located at 6 Plaza Dr. in Clear Lake from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Mason City Motor Speedway is a semi-banked 1/2-mile clay oval located 5.1 miles east of I-35 at exit 194 on SR 122 at the North Iowa Fairgrounds (3700 4th St SW, Mason City, IA 50401).
