North Dakota USMTS races cancelled

By Todd Staley

JAMESTOWN, ND (July 11, 1999) - The races that were on the schedule for August 2-5 were to be in North Dakota. The first race was to be August 2 at Jamestown, ND. USMTS was to be renting that track. The next race was to be in Bismark, ND and the track was to put this race on. The next two races at Dickinson and Williston was to be put on by USMTS.

USMTS was planning on renting the tracks in North Dakota as we felt we would have plenty of people and cars come to these races. After talking with Jack Bloche in Williston it was to the best interest of all parties to not have the races. Jack informed USMTS that they are averaging between 8-11 cars on a weekly basis and 300 people in the grandstands on a Saturday night. USMTS would have a better chance to at least break even at a track in Iowa, Illinois, or Missouri.

The races that have been lost off the schedule we will try to put in at another track in one of these states. We will have this information out by Denison on July 21st. Once again in the first year of the series we are sorry to do this, but feel that it is in the best interest of all people that these races do not happen.

Starting in the year 2000 USRA will be sanctioning race tracks throughout the midwest. We feel that we have made some changes to eliminate the grudge claiming that happens with the current IMCA rules.

USRA will have rules for Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks. USRA will be looking for tracks in the year 2000 in 14 states. USRA will offer lower fees than the present sanctioning offers. We are going to listen to promoters to see what rules need to be changed.

So if you want to get in on this exciting new Association and put more money in your pocket call Todd today at 515-832-6321. USMTS will be stronger next year as we are close to a sponsorship deal for both USRA and USMTS. With signing on to USRA you will have the opportunity to have USMTS come into your track at a reasonable price. So don’t delay call today.
