Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks to travel with USMTS Modifieds at Iowa events
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (April 24, 2000) — The USMTS has put together a few dates for the Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks to start to run with the USMTS Modifieds at a few of the Iowa shows. These races will be run on Mondays through Thursdays so that it won’t affect any track points that drivers attend on weekends.
These races will pay Stock Cars at least $600 to win and the Hobby Stocks at least $300 to win. The format for these races will be setup the same as the USMTS runs the Modifieds. Heat races will be determined by the draw and will run by passing points. The first race that we are trying to put together will be June 7 on a Wednesday night at a track to be announced within the next week. On Wednesday, June 8, the series will head to Butler County Speedway in Allison, Iowa.
If these two races are a big success, all races in Iowa will run Hobby Stocks and Stock Cars. There will be an early entry fee for both classes and also a late entry fee if entered at the track so any driver interested in being on the USMTS mailing list needs to call Todd Staley and get on the mailing list. Entry forms for all races will be sent out two weeks before each race. We will be working on contingencies for all races throughout the year. We are currently working on rules for these two classes and will be set up as I.M.C.A.-type rules with some changes. These rules will be out within the next week. For more information in this series call Todd Staley at (515) 832-6321.
