USMTS final appearance for 2000 set at Butler County

ALLISON, IA (July 18, 2000) — The United States Modified Touring Series will be making its final appearance at the Butler County Speedway in Allison, IA this Thursday night July 20th for the USMTS Fan Appreciation Night. The USMTS modifieds will be running for $2000 to win and $200 to start. Tow for all non-qualifiers is $75. Also running will be the USMTS stock cars and the USMTS hobby stocks.

The first visit in June for the USMTS put more than 130 cars in the infield. This was the first race for the stock cars and hobby stocks to run the series with the modifieds. Fifty-one modifieds were on hand as John Logue from Boone, IA picked up his first ever USMTS win. The win also qualified Logue for the Mr. Midwest Race in Des Moines, IA in September that pays the winner $5000.

The stock cars class put over 40 cars in the pit area and local driver Brian Tank powered his Terminator stock car to the win and also the $600 payday. Also on hand were over 40 hobby stocks and Jason Minnehan picked up the win and also the $400 payday.

Fan Appreciation night will pay ten different winners in the grandstands $50 as there will be drawings from the tickets. Some of the top modified drivers in the country are expected as there are a lot of drivers in the area from races earlier this week. Some of the expected drivers are: Kelly Shryock, Mark Noble, Mike Chasteen, Kevin Peters, Ron Jones, Johnny Saathoff, John Anderson, Dan Daniels, Kevin Pittman, Corey Dripps, Tim Donlinger, Tommy Myer, Kevin Stoa, Ron Barker, Russ Olson, and Todd Ihde plus many more.
