United States Modified Touring Series visits Fox Ridge this Wednesday

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (May 20, 2001) - The United States Modified Touring Series will move back into the north region for its third show of the season. This show will be the first ever visit to this brand new state of the art facility.

Dave Hesch, promoter of the speedway, put this track together and it took three years to build this speedway. USMTS has been out to the track to look at the facility and it is one of the nicest dirt tracks in America. We did talk to Dave and he said that the first two weeks the track was a little rough and they did rip the track up last week and it was smooth as glass last Friday night.

The USMTS is expecting a very strong field of cars for this event. So far in 2001 the USMTS has raced eight times and produced eight different winners. In the north region Tim Folkerts from Albia, IA a rookie with the series in 2001 is leading the points over Mike Sorensen Rochester, MN by three points.

This race you will see some of America’s best modified drivers do battle as drivers from more than eight states are expected. Some of the expected drivers to do battle on this 3/8 mile speedway are Mark Noble, Tommy Myer, Mike Spaulding, Mike Sorensen, Jay Ihrke, Todd Klees, Ron Jones, Kelly Shryock, Jason Hughes, Kevin Peters, Mike Chasteen, Ron Schreiner plus many many more.

More than sixty cars are expected for this race and USMTS is going to try and have the Simpson Race Products A-main on the track by 9:30. Also running on Wednesday will be the Street Stocks and Super Stocks.

In 2001 the USMTS went to a regional format for the series giving drivers a chance to race less races for the chance to win the USMTS points. So far in 2001 the series has had two races in the north region and Mike Sorensen and Jason Hughes have picked up wins. The USMTS is averaging 53 cars in the north region after the first two races.

Another new thing starting this week is the Olympic Fire Protection pick six. Some lucky fan will have the chance to win big money at this event by picking just the winner or picking the top six drivers in order.
