USMTS Modifieds invade Gopher State May 24

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (May 20, 2001) - The USMTS will make its first ever appearance to the Chateau Raceway this Thursday May 24th. This race will be the second night swing for the USMTS north region as the first night we race in Arcadia, WI.

The USMTS is expecting a very strong field of cars for this event. So far in 2001 the USMTS has raced eight times and produced eight different winners. In the north region Tim Folkerts from Albia, IA a rookie with the series in 2001 is leading the points over Mike Sorensen Rochester, MN by three points.

This race you will see some of America’s best modified drivers do battle as drivers from more than eight states are expected along with local area favorites. Some of the expected drivers to do battle on this 1/3 mile speedway are Mark Noble, Tommy Myer, Mike Spaulding, Mike Sorensen, Jay Ihrke, Todd Klees, Ron Jones, Kelly Shryock, Jason Hughes, Kevin Peters, Mike Chasteen, Ron Schreiner plus many many more.

More than sixty cars are expected for this race and USMTS is going to try and have the Simpson Race Products A-main on the track by 9:30.

Also running on Thursday will be the Street Stocks and Midwest Modifieds.

In 2001 the USMTS went to a regional format for the series giving drivers a chance to race less races for the chance to win the USMTS points. So far in 2001 the series has had two races in the north region and Mike Sorensen and Jason Hughes have picked up wins.

The USMTS is averaging 53 cars in the north region after the first two races. Another new thing starting this week is the Olympic Fire Protection pick six. Some lucky fan will have the chance to win big money at this event by picking just the winner or picking the top six drivers in order.

For more information in regards to the USMTS call the USMTS office at 515-832-7944. We are planning a autograph session for the USMTS drivers starting at 5pm at the speedway. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the USMTS in Lansing this Thursday night. We are planning on drivers to be at local businesses on Thursday so fans can come out and talk to your favorite drivers in Austin, MN Thursday afternoon. USMTS will have where your favorite driver will be sometime on Tuesday so call the USMTS office.
