HUMBOLDT, Kan. (June 4, 2001) - The United States Modified Touring Series will make their second stop of the season at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS this Wednesday June 6th. The United States Modified Touring Series provides drivers and fans with some of the best modified racing in the United States.
USMTS offers drivers some of the best money for a one-day event as all USMTS races pay $2000 to win and $200 to start. All drivers that fail to qualify for the A-main will receive $75. So far in 2001 the USMTS has had four races in the south region with four different winners. Kelly Shryock from Lemars, IA leads the south region point standings. The USMTS brings fun back for families to the racetrack as kids get special prices and a bicycle will be given away each night. Some lucky fan will also have the chance to win $5000 with the Olympic Fire Protection Pick Six program.
USMTS is expecting a very strong field of cars for this event and drivers from more than nine states are expected. So far in 2001 the USMTS has raced eight times and eight different drivers have found their way to victory lane making this one of the most competitive race series in America.
The Humboldt Speedway, which normally operates on Friday nights, will host this mid-week special and fans will be treated to awesome side by side modified action. Also running on Wednesday will be the Thumpers and Streets.
Racing will get underway with hot laps at 7pm and racing at 7:30 sharp. The USMTS does realize that people do have to work the next day and will have the Simpson Race Products A-main on the track by 9:30. A special autograph session for modified drivers will be during the intermission.
