Firecracker 40 up next for USMTS South Region warriors


WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (June 27, 2002) - The United States Modified Touring Series will visit the Capital Speedway for the first time this season this Tuesday and Wednesday for the Firecracker 40 that will pay $3,000 to the main event winner on Wednesday night.

This will be the first visit of the season to the speedway after winter storms wiped out the USMTS season opener at the speedway. Some of the expected drivers for this race are: Kelly Shryock, Tommy Myer, Mark Noble, Jason Hughes, Johnny Bone, Justin Boney, Joey Kates, Todd Klees, Dan Daniels, Mike Chasteen, Kevin Peters. Mark Burgtorf, Danny Lorton, Tim Donlinger, Mike Spaulding, John Allen plus many more. All the local favorites will be on hand for the racing action.

Steve Payne picked up the first ever USMTS feature win at the speedway in 2001. Fireworks will light up the sky on Wednesday night starting at 10 p.m.
