USMTS reschedules Firecracker 40 for Aug. 10


HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. (July 30, 2002) - The United States Modified Touring Series has rescheduled the recently rained out July 3rd race for Saturday night August 10.

The show that was scheduled to run on July 3rd was part of a two-day swing that started on Tuesday July 2nd . The race on the third was washed out as showers pelted the speedway at 4pm on Wednesday night. Thirty-three cars checked in for the racing action and Jason Hughes picked up the win and guaranteed him a front row starting spot on Saturday August 10.

Darin Walker will start on the front row outside with Hughes. The top eight spots were locked in on July 2nd and heat races will be determined to fill the remainder of the twenty-four car field.

This will be Capital Speedways normal night of racing and modified drivers are encouraged to attend as no Nascar license will be permitted to be part of the modified portion of this race.

Pit gates will open at 5:30 pm with racing scheduled for 7pm. For more information contact the USMTS office at 515-832-7944.
