First ever Topless Modified and Late Model Race to be at Butler County Speedway August 20th

ALLISON, Iowa (Aug. 14, 2002) - The United States Modified Touring Series will host the first ever topless modified and late model show in Iowa on Tuesday August 20th.

The race will be held at the Butler County Speedway in Allison, IA. The winner in the Modifieds and Late Models will each receive $2000.

This will be one of the highest payouts at the speedway between the two classes. QCI will be the sponsor of the modified portion of this race.

Aikey Auto Salvage and AEM are two of the sponsors so far for the Late Model portion of this race.

We have opened up the rules a little for the late models to try and get as many cars as possible for this race.

All cars under IMCA rules will be allowed to run a big carb on their spec motors and all big motors will have to run a 390 carb. The tire rule for the late models will be the American Racer tire.

The late model part of this race will pay $2000 to the winner and $200 to start the A-main.

Also running will be the stock cars for $400 to win. With no racing going on anywhere in the area a good field of cars is expected for this event.

Some of the expected late models for this race are: Jeff Aikey, Curt Martin, Brad and Denny Osborn, Greg Kastli plus many more. The modified portion of this race will also be topless and will pay $2000 to win and $200 to start.

In 2001 the USMTS did the first ever topless modified race and it was something different for the fans so this year USMTS wanted to try something a little more different so we added the late models to the show. The racing will get underway with hot laps at 6:45 and racing set for 7pm.

We are going to try and pit all the big haulers off of turn three to make it better for fans to see the track.

A good field of cars is expected for this event so get there early to get a seat.
