USMTS to visit Thunder Valley Speedway April 4-5



FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (March 31, 2003) - The United States Modified Touring Series will return to the Thunder Valley Speedway for the 2003 race season April 4-5 for a two-day show that will feature some of America’s top modified drivers do battle on this fast 3/8 mile speedway. USMTS visited Thunder Valley two times in 2002 with Kelly Shryock and Jason Hughes each picking up wins at the speedway.

This race will feature the south region as well as the new southern series. Points will be awarded for each region as well as national points. A complete show will be run each night with Friday nights modified A-main paying $2000 to win. Saturday the main event for modifieds will pay $2500 to the winner. Also on hand will be the Factory Stocks and the B-mods running a complete show each night.

Racing will get underway with hot laps at 7pm on Friday and racing to follow. On Saturday hot laps will start at 6pm and racing to follow. Fans will be treated to a very strong field of cars as cars from more than ten states are expected to be on hand. On Sunday the series will move back to Winston Speedway in Winston, MO for the USMTS Missouri Nationals that were postponed last weekend with all the bad weather in the area. Racing will start at 3pm on Sunday. Some of the expected drivers at these races are: Kelly Shryock, Johnny Bone, Scott Drake, Mark Noble, Tommy Myer, Kevin Peters, Jason Hughes, Justin Boney, Klint Pursley, George White, Eddie Martin, Skeet Amason, Phil Dixon, Steve Holzkamper, Corey Dripps, Justin Boney, Mike Chasteen, Terrance Cox, David Grigg, and Kenny Gaddis to name a few. All the local favorites will be on hand. Admission for the grandstands will be $12 each night for adults and $5 for kids 6-12.
