Godfrey Speedway to host two day USMTS show May 1-2


GODFREY, Ill. (April 22, 2003) - The United States Modified Touring Series race scheduled for last week that was rained out will now be rescheduled to a two-day show that will pay $2000 to win on Thursday evening and $2500 to win on Friday. Two complete modified shows will highlight the two-day event.

Also running on Thursday night will be the mini-sprints and hornets. On Friday night street stocks, sportsman, and Late Models will be running with the $2500 modified main event. Gates will open at 5pm each night with hot laps scheduled for 7pm and racing to follow.

This race originally scheduled for April 16th before Mother Nature had other plans as persistent rain started falling around 6pm that night forcing track officials to postpone the event two weeks. This race will be a south region race for the USMTS who will race April 26th at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO for the next south region race.

Justin Boney from Lemars, IA has taken the top spot in the current USMTS South region standings with Jason Hughes and Tommy Myer right on his tail.
