Outlaw Motor Speedway set to be invaded this weekend

MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- The Outlaw Motor Speedway is about to be invaded with what is billed as the greatest show on dirt. And after all, who could really argue with the United States Modified Touring Series motto.

With over $10,000 total purse money up for grabs over a three night race at the Outlaw Motor Speedway, some of America's top Modified Drivers will be doing battle at the 3/8 mile mile speedway.

³We are so excited for the U.S.M.T.S. to be comming to our track, much less our part of the country,² said track owner Gary Clay. ³These guys really bring a great show. They race all over the country and will be bringing drivers from as far away as Iowa. So the fans are in for a heck of a treat.²

Some of the top modified drivers in the USA will be on hand. Names such as four time defending U.S.M.T.S. National Champion Kelly Shyrock from Forest City, Iowa , U.S.M.T.S. Rookie of the Year Justin Boney, fourth in the South Region and last week¹s Modified Feature winner Johnny Bone Jr. out of Pea Ridge, Ark., U.S.M.T.S. Southern points leader Webb City, Mo.¹s Scott Drake and the Outlaw Modified Shootout Champion Long View, Texas¹ Kenny Gaddis are all expected to show.

So It truly could be the greatest show on dirt to hit the newest 3/8 mile track in south with the top drivers in the country set to show as well as the local favorites.

Current Modified points leader Gary Andrews, second in points Terry Beckham II, Muskogee¹s Mike Withrow and Tate Cole third and fourth respectively have shown that they can run with the big dogs. But not to forget or count out favorites such as Locust Grove¹s Klint Pursley, Broken Arrow¹s Larry Rupe, Choteau¹s Randy Frailey and defending Muskogee Points Champion Chad Wheeler are the heavy favorites to battle for the top spot.

³Our local guys will get to rub some elbows with some the best cars in the USA,² says Clay.²But don¹t count our guys out either, they can hang with the best. It will be like defending the home turf.²

This race will award USMTS National points and will also award points for the southern series and the south region. The format allows three different drivers the chance to make some good money, which will bring more Modified drivers to the Outlaw Motor Speedway.

Hot laps will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday and Friday with hot laps slated for 5:30 on Saturday.

So far this season the USMTS has raced eleven times and produced eight different winners. This race should be no different.

Jason Hughes, Justin Boney, and Scott Drake have each picked up two wins each this year. Mark Noble, Jason Krohn, Johnny Bone Jr., Eddie Martin, and Al Hejna have all picked up one win each.

After seven races in the National Points Justin Boney has a twenty-five point lead over Tommy Myer with Jason Hughes and Kelly Shyrock not far behind.

The visit to the Outlaw Motor Speedway will be the first of two stops for the U.S.M.T.S. as a return visit of September 25-27 will be on the schedule.
