USMTS ready for Fisher Motors Roughrider Classic

MINOT, N.D. -- The United States Modified Touring Series will come marching into the Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND with something to prove. Last season the USMTS visited the speedway for the first time and two of the three nights of racing got in before Mother Nature decided that the Sunday show would be washed away. This season Mother Nature has promised not to play apart in this show and fans will be treated to some great modified racing for all three days.

The racing action will start with practice for any drivers on Thursday night.

The USMTS will pull in to town Friday morning and all the local favorites will be looking to show the traveling drivers the fastest way around the Nodak Speedway.

Last season Joren Boyce showed why he is always a favorite to win at the speedway and took the first night win.

Colcord, OK driver Jason Hughes picked up the win on Saturday before rain on Sunday ruined the plans for the $5000 to win main event. This season the series has changed the qualifying procedures a little.

Fri-Saturday night will pay $1000 to win and the top ten cars from each night will be locked into the main event.

These ten drivers will run a dash that will determine the starting lineup for the inside row from Friday and the outside row from Saturday. How the driver finishes the dash is how he will start the Sunday Main Event.

Sunday’s main event will be one of the better paying USMTS shows of the season. Last season more than forty-five cars checked in for the racing action and more is expected for the event this season.

Some of the expected drivers this season include: Tommy Myer, Jason Hughes, Justin Boney, Mike Spaulding, Kelly Shryock, Mark Noble, Scott Drake, Johnny Bone, Eddie Martin, Kenny Gaddis, Dean Mahlstadt, John VanDenBerg, Corey Dripps, Bruce Hanford, and Jon Tesch, plus many more. This will be your only chance to see the USMTS in 2003 as only one visit to North Dakota a year is on the USMTS schedule. The USMTS souvenir trailer will also be on hand selling all your favorites souvenirs in the only visit of the season to the Nodak Speedway.

For more information call the USMTS office at 515-832-7944 or call Scott Fuchs at 701-720-2320.

This will be a must see show so don’t miss this one Fri-Sun June 6-8th at the Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND.
