USMTS Modifieds set to invade Jamestown



JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The United States Modified Touring Series based in Webster City, IA will be the traveling series to the Jamestown Speedway for a one-day visit that will pay the winner $2000. This will be the first ever visit to the area for the USMTS, and fans will be treated to the greatest modified show in the US on Thursday night.

Drivers from more than 10 states are expected for this race for the USMTS north region race.

This race is special because it will be part of the USMTS National Tour that will feature seventeen race nights in nineteen days. The series will move to the Nodak Speedway for the Fisher Motors Roughrider Classic on Friday-Sunday. With the other race in the area all of the top drivers are expected to be on hand.

Some of the expected drivers include: Tommy Myer, Jason Hughes, Justin Boney, Kelly Shryock, Scott Drake, Johnny Bone, Eddie Martin, Jon Tesch, Dean Mahlstadt, John VanDenBerg, Darin Walker, Tim Weaver, and Mark Noble, plus many more. This race should draw more than fifty cars to the North Dakota area and fans will be treated to some great side by side modified racing action.

Last season the first USMTS National Tour averaged more than fifty cars per event and this year should be no different. Track promoter Don Gumke has put together a meet and greet the driver on Wednesday night and fans will get to come and and meet all the USMTS drivers and check out all the USMTS souvenirs available from the series and the drivers.

So far in 2003 the USMTS races have produced more than fifteen different winners this season and with all the strong drivers in the North Dakota area another new driver could take home the top money. Fans will want to come out and check this show out, as this will be one of the top shows to visit the Jamestown Speedway this season. Racing on Thursday will begin at 7pm with hot laps and racing set for 7:30. Don’t miss the USMTS on Thursday at the Jamestown Speedway Thursday night June 5 th.
